What Is FreQuent?
FreQuent is an additive synthesizer. It consists of a hardware controller and a (software) plugin. It generates 1 undertone and 32 overtones as a general basis. These can be manipulated in various ways. As of yet, this is nothing new. We tried to add a few never seen before features though. Through that, we want to make additive synthesis an innovative experience and hopefully inspire the user to create sounds he wouldn’t normally think of (or much rather, create).
What’s so innovative about FreQuent?
With the help of the inbuilt ‚radar‘, you are able to scan the environment surrounding you. This will change the sounds coming out of the device. You are basically analyzing what the room your performing in sounds like, including all the people & objects in it. This adds a ’social‘ aspect to electronic music live performances as the people can change the way music sounds by moving around the artist.
